Exhibition plans biobased and nature-inclusive building at Nieuwe Veemarkt in Zwolle.

Together with Dok architects, La-di-da, Copper8 and Naturalis, we are participating in the design competition biobased and nature-inclusive building on the Nieuwe Veemarkt in Zwolle. Our entry "Op Stelten!" is now on display (along with the other results of the second round) in the Elbertsschool.

From 17 to 23 May 2023, three plans for the New Veemarkt in Zwolle will be exhibited in the Elbertsschool. These plans are the preliminary result of the competition held by the Zwolle municipality in cooperation with the College of State Advisors for bio-based and nature-inclusive building on the area of the former IJsselhallen, which will be developed into a mixed urban district.

Competition

The municipality of Zwolle wants to set an example in the transition to a sustainable society. Ambitious plans in the field of green, climate, water and sustainability go hand in hand with building communities: communities in which people feel known and seen. Therefore, the municipality launched a competition among design teams asking for a plan that is bio-based, nature-inclusive, affordable and adaptable. The plans include housing in various forms, types and price categories, a mobility hub, small-scale workspaces, (collective) facilities and an attractive outdoor space. The winner of the competition will be announced on 7 July. The municipality plans to award a contract to the winner for the further development of the mixed living-working block within the New Veemarkt area development.

Exhibition

The exhibition will take place in the Elbersschool, Nieuwe Veemarkt 34 Zwolle. The opening will take place on Wednesday 17 May at 16.00. During the opening, the design teams will explain their plans. Afterwards, the exhibition can be viewed on:

  • Thursday 18 May: 19.30 – 21.00 p.m
  • Friday 19 May: 15.00 – 17.00 p.m.
  • Saturday 20 May: 14.00 – 16.00 p.m.
  • Tuesday 23 May: 17.00 – 20.00 p.m.

The municipality would like to know what residents and other interested parties think about the plans. Therefore, the designs will be exhibited before the jury evaluates the entries. At the exhibition, visitors can leave their reactions to the plans. These reactions will be given to the jury and added to the jury report. The jury report will be published when the result of the competition is announced.
