Harderwijk Municipal Council has approved the development framework for Kranenburg! This document outlines the initial vision for what Kranenburg could look like in the future. It sets out our vision and the key values that will guide its further development. The framework has been developed with valuable input from residents, local neighbours and others who will use Kranenburg.
The former Kranenburg military site in Harderwijk, covering approximately 11 hectares, will provide space for housing, community facilities and supporting functions. Kranenburg is of great historical significance, making it a unique location to be developed in Harderwijk. The site’s military history will play a visible role in its future, building on existing heritage features such as the former officers’ mess and the historic entrance gate surrounding the site.
The development framework sets out what we consider important for this location, the opportunities it offers and what it could look like in the future. We can now move on to the next step: the masterplan phase. During this phase, we will translate the framework into a concrete plan.
