As part of the redevelopment of the Bomenbuurt in Numansdorp, we are developing an urban masterplan. Together with our project partners HW Wonen, the Municipality of Hoeksche Waard, Alerimus, Cavent and PLUS Numansdorp, we are working towards a shared ambition: a neighbourhood for all stages of life, where housing, care, social interaction and everyday amenities reinforce one another.
At the heart of the plan is a green, community-focused hub that provides the foundation for a connected and future-proof neighbourhood.
A neighbourhood that cares
Through a community working group, we involve residents in the planning process, step by step. It all starts with listening. After all, who knows the neighbourhood better than the people who live there every day? Through interactive sessions, open conversations and a physical scale model, we make the plans tangible and open to discussion. Together, we explore how concerns, wishes and ideas can be translated into concrete design decisions.
It is inspiring to see residents actively and constructively contribute their ideas for the future of their neighbourhood. Especially when a neighbourhood is changing, it is important to provide insight into the spatial impact and to discuss what makes a neighbourhood a pleasant place to live. Using the scale model, we explored different possibilities and discussed how to encourage social interaction, create green spaces, promote physical activity, provide opportunities for play and strengthen mutual care.
In this way, we are developing a plan that connects design and community, bringing spatial quality and social value together as one. We are doing this with and for the neighbourhood.
