WON IN AMSTELVEEN!
ECHO Urban Design has been selected by the municipality of Amstelveen as the design partner for the comprehensive redevelopment of 'Het Oude Dorp.' In the coming months, we will work closely with the municipality and stakeholders to tackle the challenge of enhancing the integration and spatial coherence among the various projects around Het Oude Dorp.
The A9 is currently being widened and covered in three locations to unify Amstelveen as a city and overcome the barrier of the motorway. This presents a unique opportunity to integrate the distinctive, intimate atmosphere and identity of the old village on both sides of the highway. The public space will play a central role in the design strategy, enhancing the connection and synergy between the Northern Riverbank, the Amsterdamse Bos, the Old Village, and the surrounding neighborhoods, while providing a quality boost to the entire area.
