What if…..To the max!
During the design process and the further development of interesting options, you constantly come across impossibilities and obstacles that, from practical habituation, carry an ingrained solution and potentially weaken the concept.
When you recognize a blockage, it can be interesting to immediately ask the ‘what if’ question and intuitively outline a few options that entail the maximum inverse of the posed problem. Closed becomes open, inaccessible becomes accessible, use becomes reuse and a barrier becomes a connection. Pulling these thoughts to the extreme increases the chance of success, it takes a lot to visualize a potential problem as a layered opportunity. To do this, it must be made clear that by reversing a stated problem, multiple opportunities arise for the project, on multiple layers. And the sum of the parts
therefore becomes higher than the possible extra investment that is involved.
